If you are wondering whether Northumberland is a good destination on your next holiday for toddlers, then fear not! There are plenty of fantastic little activities and large parks to explore with even the most energetic toddler!
If you are staying in the Northumberland area, you can pick a few activities across your stay to help break up the week with a toddler – and hopefully will enjoy some things yourself, too. Many of the activities are free for under 2s, allowing you to go out even if you are on a budget. Just some ideas include:
Number 1- Banana Beach Indoor Adventure Play
Banana Beach is an indoor tropical adventure area which is best for kids under 7. There's a beach theme decor and plenty soft play entertainments such as slides and balls, a jumping pillow and an inflatable shark! If you have a really little toddler or bigger baby, there's a zone just for them, including mini climbs, soft construction blocks and balls pits. There’s a café and restaurant on site for the adults, so you can enjoy a cup of tea while you watch the little ones burn off some energy.
Number 2 - Prudhoe Waterworld
Here you will find a 25m six lane pool where you can enjoy swimming and fun on the waves and inflatables. There is even a Bouldering Wall for over 5s if you have a larger child who wants some entertainment! You don’t need to have harnesses – there are safety cushions underneath in case they fall so it is all very safe and fun. This is a great place to spend the afternoon if it is raining or outside. You can easily spend half a day here and then enjoy some food in the café afterwards. Prices are:
Adults: £6.45, Senior: £4.85, Junior: £3.90, Children (3 years and under): Free
Family (2a 2c): £18.85
Number 3 - Northumberland Country Zoo
This zoo offers the best day out for families with toddlers, young children, older children, and even teens! It is set in 15 acres of countryside in the heart of Northumberland and you will find everything from wallabies to Shetland ponies, pigs and donkeys, reptiles and fish! You can also enjoy a game of mini golf, as well as a ride on the pedal tractors or enjoy the outdoor play area! There are some great facilities on site if you want to have a cup of tea or a hot meal, making it ideal for the whole family. You can even take a picnic along if you would prefer to sit out in the sun and enjoy a British tradition.
Prices are very reasonable: Adults: £6.50, Kids (3-15): £4.75, Under 3s: Free, Animal Feed: £0.20
One reviewer said, “The whole place was well looked after, plenty staff around, reasonably priced, free onsite parking, cafe on site, nice coffee! Kids loved the Lemurs and the wallaby walkabout, and got their photo took with Millie the parrot. Well worth a day out!”
