Description

Barn End is a charming, traditionally furnished barn conversion with exposed beams in the living room.  Accessed along a track and across a ford over a stream it is a pleasant bolt hole nestled in a secluded valley about 1.5 miles from Alston.  This area in the heart of the North Pennines has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  There is an abundance of wildlife living in the vicinity of the cottage with red squirrels regularly seen taking nuts from the feeders and roe deer often spotted from the cottage windows.  For walkers and cyclists of all abilities this is a perfect location with a wealth of paths and trails straight from the cottage through breathtaking scenery.  For a challenging cycle ride both the Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route both pass through Alston.  The owners live on site and run Hartside Nursery Gardens specialising in growing rarely offered hardy compact plants including Alpines, Primulas and Saxifrages.  Guests have access to 12 acres of garden and woodland.    Alston is a small bustling town set on a steep cobbled street renowned for being the highest market town in England.  There is a good range of shops selling everyday essentials, butchers, bakers, craft shops, cafes and pubs.

Ground floor - Living room with large picture window with countryside views, exposed beams, electric log effect stove, dining table and TV with Freeview and DVD player.  Small fitted kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, washer/dryer and dishwasher.  WC and hand basin.  Sunny porch with table and chairs.

First floor - Bedroom 1 - Double bed.

Bedroom 2 - Single bed.

Bathroom with electric shower, shower seat, WC and handbasin.
