Standing on the wooden decking or relaxing in the hot tub in front of Mount Hooley Lodge you could almost say you were on top of the world. The panoramic views looking across the South Tyne Valley are absolutely awe-inspiring. This is not your average run of the mill lodge but a stand alone Canadian style log cabin constructed from massive inter-locking logs measuring over 12 inches in diameter, a unique feature both inside and outside. The hot water and heating are produced from a ground source heat pump and the roof is covered by grass which provides excellent insulation, together making this a completely innovative eco- friendly building concept. Mount Hooley Lodge is located on a working upland hill farm, 1200 feet above sea level, on the moor above Alston, which is the highest market town in England. For peace and tranquillity it would be difficult to find a more idyllic spot. The five star luxury can be enjoyed whatever the weather and at any time of the year. In summer the wide bi-fold patio doors to the front of the lodge can be completely opened creating a picture frame to admire the view, or you can chill out in the hot tub under the clear starry skies. In contrast during the colder winter months the log burning stove creates a warm and cosy environment to relax and recharge those batteries. Alston has an eclectic mix of shops selling local produce, unusual gift shops, cafes and pubs. There is a narrow gauge railway with steam trains running on selected dates throughout the year on a half hour journey from Alston. This region is known as England's last wilderness with fantastic walks along unspoilt nature trails with an abundance of wildlife to observe along the way.

FRIDAY TO FRIDAY.
We visit this property yearly and have done for several years. It never fails to impress. Chris and Marion could be nicer or ore helpful, even when we fail to find the the drawer of kitchen utensils or leave a dressing gown in the lodge ! We will return.
It is fabulous, our 3rd visit. Feels like coming home...
Beautiful property with a stunning view. Perfect location for relaxation. Hosts were very warm and welcoming. 100%recommend. Extremely beautiful and relaxing part of the world!
Unique experience in a luxurious, authentic Log Cabin in a picturesque setting you thought you’d only find on the back of a postcard. The hosts were extremely welcoming and made the place feel like our own. From relaxing in the hot tub to sitting around the log burner, the cabin gave us the setting to create memories with loved ones that we will cherish forever.
