Breathtaking cottage locations in the Cheviot Villages

The Cheviot Hills area is an outstanding place of beauty to spend some time and enjoy a relaxing break in this part of the country. There are quaint villages and market towns to wander in, many traditional shops and pubs yet an impressive array of activities for walkers, hikers, cyclists and families. Whether you want to enjoy the long sandy beaches or impressive walks, you have the best choice around.

Wooler is at the edge of the Northumberland National Park and known as the ‘Gateway to the Cheviots’. Steeped in history, visitors will enjoy the pace of this part of the country. Nearby Chillingham, a pretty hamlet has reputedly has the most haunted castle in England and is home to a unique herd of white cattle. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes from this area too and a great location for exploring more of the countryside.

The village of Thropton is on the edge of the National Park just two miles from Rothbury. It is home to a 300 year old coaching inn and the area is nestled on the south bank of the River Coquet surrounded by breathtaking views.
