The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre is an impressive visitor centre with a first of its kind, Whin Sill Grassland Roof from where you can enjoy wildflowers and spectacular views across the surrounding landscape. For anyone looking for a challenge, the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail is an 84 mile route following the line of the wall passing rugged moorland and open countryside. For those less adventurous, there is a good selection of shorter trails and circular walks which takes in many of the great visitor centres and most notable views along the wall.

A visit to Sycamore Gap is not to be missed, arguably one of the most iconic sites along the wall, the lone Sycamore tree which grows in a dramatic dip along Hadrian’s Wall is perhaps most famous for its starring role in the much-loved Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves movie. It also proved inspirational to George RR Martin who based the wall in the Games of Thrones series on Hadrian’s Wall.

Talkin Tarn Country Park is just south of Hadrian’s Wall near the market town of Brampton. From here you can enjoy waterside and woodland walks, enjoy a picnic or a bite to eat at the onsite café. From here you can also try one of the many water sports on offer.
