Nestled on the south bank of the River Coquet, with 23 acres of parkland and 700 metres of private fishing, the tranquil setting of this cottage is idyllic. Wreighburn cottage is situated just outside the village of Thropton on the fringe of the National Park. It is two miles from Rothbury and the National Trust’s Cragside House and grounds; 15 miles from Alnwick and its famous castle and garden; 18 miles from the coast and 25 miles from Holy Island.

Situated on the outskirts of the village of Thropton and on the fringes of the National Park the views across the valley to the Simonside Hills and the Cheviots Hills are breathtaking. The property has a small garden which is fully enclosed and an upper paddock for the use of guests. Guests can also use the parkland which includes a small football pitch. Children can play here and guests can barbecue and eat al fresco if they wish.  Guests can also use the field leading down to the river. An all weather tennis court is located adjacent to the cottage and greenhouse (don't worry it is made from toughened glass). There is a pavilion next to the tennis court.

There are 7 golf courses within a half an hours drive of Rothbury including an 18 hole course within one mile. and a more challenging course at Linden Hall golf club 8, miles away.

Please note in order to ensure the cottage retains its high standards for all visitors we operate a refundable 'Good Housekeeping Deposit' of £100. This is due two weeks before your stay begins, paid direct to the accommodation owner, and is refunded within 24 hours of your stay ending provided the cottage is left in an acceptable state. We accept normal wear and tear, the odd broken glass, plate etc does not worry us but any extra cleaning or damage over and above the norm for a changeover may be charged from this deposit. We hope this will mean the cottage retains its high standards for all its visitors.
