ACCESS STATEMENT FOR STATION HOUSE 

Introduction

 

Our property is a converted disused railway station situated on the main East Coast Line. This means that many high speed & freight trains travel on this route daily. All windows and doors are double glazed, but there is noise and vibration regularly from the trains and the nearby railway crossing. We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement, but if you have any queries please do call. We look forward to welcoming you.

  • The nearest main train station Chathill is 4 miles away

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

 

  • There is private off-street car parking with enough room for several cars.
  • Parking is directly outside the cottage on a large gravel area.
  • The entrance to Station House is directly adjacent to the parking area
  • The outside light beside the entrance door is switched on from the inside of the house in the porch. In addition there is a PIR security light to the side
  • The key for the door is in the coded safety box – details of location and code will be sent to you by the holiday company prior to your holiday.

 

General Information

 

  • All main doors have a maximum useable aperture of 70cm
  • The front door key hole lock 86 cm high.
  • The side patio door has a 20cm step with key hole 120cm high.
  • Both front and side doors have internal thumb turn locks for safety
  • To lock all external doors requires the door handle to be lifted up then locked.
  • The front door opens into hallway , with the living room to the left through a wide opening with the kitchen accessed to the rear and toilet & shower to the right. The utility/washroom is off the kitchen which includes the heating boiler.
  • Stairs to the left lead in the kitchen/diner are to the first floor bedrooms.
  • There are 16 stairs, 80 cm wide, with an 18cm "rise" and a 20cm "going".
  • 5 steps up to a half landing step with a further 9 steps to a small landing with a final step up to the left and the right.
  • Heating is oil, with radiators throughout.
  • The heating system has two moveable thermostats one for downstairs, one for upstairs which can be manually altered to suit.
  • LED lighting throughout.
  • Smoke alarms are hard wired with three downstairs and one upstairs.

  • There is a free space of 1x1 metres clear of doors and furniture.

  • Please ensure young children are supervised at all times in all external areas for their own safety

Description

Station House in Christon Bank is the perfect holiday home for train enthusiasts, full of railway memorabilia. This converted railway station situated only yards from the railway line boasts an enclosed sitting area on the original train platform. The station operated between 1847 and 1965 and today trains travelling on the East Coast main line can be seen speeding by. Memorabilia adorning the property includes original signage in original livery, taken from Chathill, the closest nearby station.

Christon Bank is only a five minute drive to the picturesque coastal village of Embleton which has an unspoilt sandy beach. From Embleton Bay you can walk north towards Newton by the Sea, or south along the beach to Dunstanburgh Castle or Craster. There is a great selection of places to eat and drink nearby, including Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club, The Ship Inn at Newton by the Sea, or The Jolly Fisherman in Craster.

Utility with standard front loading washing machine and tumble dryer.

Ground floor shower room with shower, WC and washbasin.

 

First Floor:

Bedroom 1 with twin 3ft beds, drawer, TV, non feather duvets and pillows. Ensuite walk-in shower, WC and vanity unit with wash basin.

Bedroom 2 with king size bed, chest of draws, bedside tables, TV, non feather duvet and pillows.

Bedroom 3 with king size bed, chest of draws, bedside tables, TV, non feather duvet and pillows. 

Bathroom: Bath with flexible shower over, WC, vanity unit with wash basin.

Heating: Oil central heating.

Outside space: Gravelled outdoor space with industrial features. Parking. Please note the East Coast railway line is separated by a high fence. Please ensure young children are supervised at all times in the external areas for their own safety.
