What's On In Northumberland During June?

There are many events, indoor and outdoor, occurring throughout Northumberland and the North-East during June. These events provide a great opportunity to get out and about in this magnificent region of England and see what the county has to offer. Some of the events occurring during June are listed below.
30 May – 3 June 2016
May Half Term Zoo Club, Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens
10am – 4pm
This is a whole week of events at the Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens that will bring out the inner zoo keeper in you. Every day there will be different activities for you to join in with. These activities include: helping the zookeepers with their daily checks, feeding the lemurs, training the cockatoos and walking the Shetland ponies.
The Zoo Club is open for children aged 5 – 8 and 9 – 15. Tickets are £30 per day and include lunch. This is a great experience and day out for the children if you are staying in a holiday cottage nearby for the half term school holidays
5, 12, 19 & 26 June 2016
Wildlife and Osprey Motor Boat Cruise, Kielder Forest
6pm – 8pm
Enjoy a guided motor boat trip around the beautiful Kielder waters, with experienced Calvert Trust staff and knowledgeable Northumberland Wildlife Trust volunteers. You will be able to spot local wildlife and with luck you will also have the opportunity to see the Kielder Ospreys.
Places need to be booked in advance directly with the Calvert Trust and tickets are £20.

Potter Inspired Characters, Alnwick Castle
10am – 4pm
You might know Alnwick castle for its starring role in the first two Harry-Potter Films as the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Characters inspired by the magical world of harry Potter return to the castle this year with all kinds of magic and mayhem. Some of the lookalikes are so good you will think they are the real Harry potter stars and they provide great photo opportunities.
This event is free with admissionto the castle at £14.95 for adults and £7.75 for children aged 5 – 16 years. Under 5’s are free. Family tickets (2 + up to 4) are £40. Tickets can be validated for unlimited free visits for 12 months.

Welcome Home Tim Peake, Life Science Centre, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
11am to 4pm
Join others to celebrate Tim Peake’s return to earth after his 6 months on board the International Space Station. The Life Science Centre will be screening recorded footage of Tim’s return on giant TV screens, with demos and narration from staff.
The event is included in the Science Centre admission price of £14 for adults, £8 for children (5-17 years) and Under 5’s are free. Family tickets are £34.00.

Jesting with Zooted, Alnwick Castle
Join Zooted, the sword juggling jesting duo, for motley medieval mayhem. Zooted go back to a time when court jesters would entertain the Lords and Ladies of aristocratic and royal households. With a hilarious blend of comedy, fire-eating, sword-juggling and trickery, Zooted never fail to entertain and amaze. The audience are loudly encouraged to participate and volunteers may even be picked to help with the show.
