Whatever your age or interests there is plenty to do in Northumberland this August. Here are some events that are happening during the month that may be of interest to you and your family.

Wallington – Summer Holiday Fun
Wallington, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 4AR
Enjoy family fun this summer as Wallington recreates the playfulness of the quirky Trevelyan family who used to live there. There are indoor and outdoor adventures every day including water fights, summer crafts, seed planting and dry-stone walling. Check the Wallington planner to find out what event is happening and when.
Booking isn’t required but there is a small charge for some activities. General admission prices apply to enter Wallington, from £11.80 for adults and £5.90 for children. Family admission is available. Events start at 12pm and end at 3pm.

Alnmouth Beach, Northumberland, NE66 2RA
Volcano Night is a charity bonfire competition on the beach. Teams of up to 10, young and old, compete to build a bonfire on top of a sandcastle before the incoming tide and the last one burning is the winner. Volcano Night is a fun night of entertainment for all the family to enjoy before heading back to the warmth of your holiday cottage.
All proceeds go to the RNLI at Amble. Bring a picnic. This event is free to watch but there is a charge of £10 per team to take part.

Lost in the Big Blue
Whitehouse Farm Centre, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 6AW
To celebrate the release of Finding Dory in cinemas, Whitehouse Farm is hosting a Lost in the Big Blue event. On arrival, take part in the farm trial. Our favourite Blue Fish and her sea creature friends have got lost around the farm. Grab your trail map and mark down the sea creatures you find. Finish the trail and win a bag of sweets.
You can also pop over to the picnic barn and enter the craft competition where you can make your favourite sea creature. The grand prize will be a free annual pass for one year to the farm for either an adult or a child. Winners will be announced at the end of the weekend.
Prices for this event start from £8.50 per child and £9.50 per adult.

Bamburgh Castle Green, Northumberland, NE69 7DS
The B Festival is a celebration of a multitude of genres of music from classical through to rock and roll and many parts in between. The B Festival is a great summer evening, lounging on picnic blankets, sitting in deck chairs, listening to cool sounds and watching the sunset on the castle.
Refreshments will be available in the form of a small bar and a coffee stall. Tickets are £17.50 each and the event runs from 6pm to 11pm.

Open Air Theatre – Gulliver’s Travels
Wallington, Northumberland, NE61 4AR
John Lemuel Gulliver on a voyage into the unknown…Well, we do know that there will be tiny people, giants and talking horses! This show is a brand-new and adventurous adaptation of the classic story, loved by adults and children alike.
Tickets are £12.50 per adult and £8 per child (5-17 years). The show runs from 7:30pm – 10pm.

St. Nicholas Park, Gosforth, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, NE3 3XT
Build an insect hotel to hold some food for hedgehogs that visit your garden, then join us on a minibeast hunt and look for signs of hedgehogs in the park. There is also a wildlife watch session aimed at children ages 5 – 12.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided. Dress appropriately for the outdoors.
Tickets are £5 per child (adults are free but need to book a place). The event takes place 10am – 11am.
