Preparing for Christmas in Northumberland

Northumberland is a great place to be at Christmas time, but the lead up to Christmas is just as magical as the big day itself. There are many events that are taking place from NOW, many which may require booking, so even if you think it is a little too early to think about Christmas, it is worth taking note.

Here’s just a few we think you’ll be interested in:

Christmas Food markets in November

The Ford Christmas Market is taking place on 26th November this month in The Visitor Centre, Heatherslaw. This is a big annual event, with an undercover street marquee, where you will find over 50 stalls selling a huge range of goods and gifts. There’s also a carousel ride for the children.

Parking and admission at this event are free.  There is a shuttle bus running all day from 11am between Etal, Heatherslaw and Ford.

This week

Of course, if you’re not in the Christmas-y mood yet you will probably know that Remembrance Sunday is also right upon us. If you are in Northumberland for the weekend and wish to mark the day, the Remembrance Sunday Concert at St Paul's Church, Alnwick is a good place to go. Alnwick and District Choral Society presents a concert which will begin with a number of settings of sacred music from across Europe. The concert will finish with a performance of Bob Chilcott's "Requiem".

A ticket for entry is £12.00 per person and the concert starts at 7.30pm-9.30pm on Sunday 12th November.

Staying Longer

If you want to stay a little longer in Northumberland, why not book a luxury cottage at one of Grace Darlings locations.

You’ll find plenty to see and do in the nearby area while enjoying this exclusive location.
