National trust East Events at Cragside House and Gardens

here are lots of things to do at Cragside House and Gardens this Easter. Cragside is open every day throughout the Easter school holidays and with something happening every day there is plenty to keep the kids entertained.
There are a number of Grace Darling Holidays luxury self-catering cottages located near to Cragside. This means you won’t have far to travel with the kids to find some seasonal events if you are spending some time in Northumberland over the Easter period.
- Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt
Friday 25th – Monday 28th March, 11am -3pm
Somewhere on Cragside Estate, the Easter bunny has hidden his Easter Eggs. Can you follow the trail and solve his puzzle to find the hidden eggs. There will be a Cadbury chocolate treat for those that solve the puzzle. The Easter Egg Hunt is £3 per person taking part.
- Bunny’s House Easter Children’s Trail
Fri 25th March – Sunday 10th April, 11am – 4pm.
Can you find Bunny hiding in Cragside House? Pick up a trail guide at the front of the house and follow the trail that takes you through the rooms so you can find out the word Bunny is spelling. Once you have the word you will be able to find him. Trail guides are 50p.
- Easter Bonnet Making
Tuesday 29th March, 11am – 3pm
Make an Easter Bonnet and then show off your work by parading it around the Estate. This event if free of charge.
- Time to Dress
Wednesday 30th March – 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm and 3pm
Dress from head to toe in Victorian Clothing and immerse yourself in everything from bloomers to hats. You will even have your own personal servant to help you dress correctly. Once you are ready in all your finery, you can wear your outfit around the house and surprise your parents and other visitors. Time to Dress is suitable for children aged 4 – 12 years. This event costs £10 per 1 hour for up to 3 children. Booking is essential.
Thursday 31st March, 11am – 3pm
This is a drop in event at the Young Engineers Zone at Cragside. You can experiment with different methods of dying paste eggs. This is a free event.
- Bird Survey
Friday 1st April, 11am – 3pm
Make a survey of all the birds using Cragside in early spring by hiding in the Wildlife Hide. Carole the Learning and Event Co-ordinator will be on hand to help you with what you need to do to spot the birds successfully. There are only a limited amount of binoculars at Cragside so it is recommended that you bring your own. A great event for all those bidding bird watchers. This event is free of charge.
