If you are interested in doing something a little different in Northumberland this month, then why not check out Kirkley Hall. This place is a 17th-century country mansion as well as a Grade II listed building that is situated on the bank of the River Blyth at Kirkley, near Ponteland and right in the heart of the Northumberland countryside.
It is a great place to visit if you are staying in Northumberland on holiday, visiting the area on the bank holiday weekend or looking for a place to host a business meeting if you are in Northumberland with work.
As well as being a spectacular venue to visit, you can get married here or host a special occasion. It has everything you need for perfect photo opportunities! There are dedicated tea rooms as well as events running throughout the year that you can come along to. For instance, later this month on 27th May, there will be a run. This starts at 10am until 2pm and is £35 to enter. Taking place over a 10km course around the Kirkley Hall grounds, the course is designed to test your strength and stamina. You will find lots on your run including fences, water challenges, assault courses and a zip line! To book you can call 01670 841 235.
Looking ahead to Father’s Day, you can really treat your dad to a perfect afternoon out at the mansion. On 17th June from 12pm you can book in for a special lunch, priced at £19.50 (adults) & £9.50 (under 12s). Early booking is strongly recommended. The Chef prepares a special menu and you can expect excellent table service and a perfect view over the grounds – even if it is raining!
If you fancy just popping in when it is a little quieter, The Orangery Tea Room and Gift Shop is open to members of the public 7 days a week and is the perfect place to relax and chat with friends. They serve snacks and light lunches including dishes such as soup, jacket potatoes and sandwiches. You can take a stroll around the gardens and then enjoy a cup of tea here for the perfect way out.
If you are thinking less leisure and more business, then this venue can also be booked for meetings and conferences. There are five main function rooms which can accommodate up to 150 people. There is also an exhibition hall available for up to 700 delegates and a smaller meeting room available for more intimate and shorter meetings. This venue is close to the region’s capital and so makes a good choice for business. There’s also free and plentiful parking – always a bonus!
