A guide to Santa's Grottos in Northumberland and the North-East

There isn’t long to go before Santa gets his reindeer ready and jumps on his sleigh to deliver presents around the world.

From now until Christmas Eve, thousands of little boys and girls can make a special Christmas wish at one of Santa’s grottos.

There are plenty of opportunities for children to see him across Northumberland and here are some of the grottos that will be sprinkling some festive magic over youngsters this Christmas.


  • Wallington Hall

December 3rd, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd

Cambo, near Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 4AR

Meet Father Christmas in his cosy grotto at Wallington and receive a special gift.

Cost: Normal admission charges apply plus £10 per child (Normal Admission is from £11.80 adults, £5.90 child, £29.50 family).

Times: 10:30am – 3:30pm


Dec 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd

Brocksbushes Farm, Corbridge, Northumberland, NE43 7UB

Children can go along to the grotto at Brocksbushes to meet Santa and his little helpers and watch the puppet pantomime.

Cost: £10 per child, adults go free. Tickets can be bought from the farm shop or on their website.

Times: 10am, 12pm and 3pm.


  • Dobbie’s Garden Centre

Nov 26th up until Christmas Eve

Street House Farm, Ponteland, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE20 9BT

Children can visit Santa in his grotto for a magical ‘on-to-one’ experience at Dobbie’s. Lego loving boys and girls (over the age of 4) can choose an upgrade to their visit to include a LEGO branded toy while stocks last.

Cost: Tickets are priced at £6.99 for a standard ticket and £10.99 for a Lego ticket. Tickets can be booked from www.dobbiesgardencentres.co.uk. Both tickets include a small gift.


  • Eshott Heugh Animal Park

Nov 26th + 27th. Dec 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th.

2, Eshott Heugh Farm, Felton, Morpeth, NE65 9QH

Santa will be back at the park in his wonderful wintry themed grotto with his Christmas donkeys.  Children will be able to tell him their Christmas wishes and Santa will be giving lovely presents to every child who meets him.

Visitors will also be able to take part in a wintry world treasure hunt with letters hidden around the park. Then enter a draw to win prizes including a family pass to the animal park for a whole year, which is great if you live in the North-East or visit regularly for a short break or summer holiday.

There is also a Christmas photograph competition where entrants have a chance at winning a Meerkat Encounter.

Cost: it is £5 per child to meet Santa which includes a gift. Normal park admission fees also apply. (Normal park fees are adults £6.50, Children under 16 £4.75, under 2s are free).

Times: Santa will be at the park from 12pm. Pre-booking is recommended by contacting the park.


  • Fenwick

Nov 28th until Dec 23rd

Intu Eldon Square, 39 Northumberland Street, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 7AJ

Santa will be in the famous Fenwick Department Store and families can visit for free but tickets need to be booked in advance as places are limited.


  • As You Like It, Jesmond Bar

Dec 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 18th – 24th

Archbold Terrace, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE2 1DB

Have you been naughty or nice this year? Get down to ‘As You Like It’ and visit Santa in his grotto to find out. Children can enjoy 30 minutes with Santa and his elves, sharing stories and memories and each child will receive a personalised message and gift from the man himself.

Families can then take their seats in the restaurants for some festive treats and face painting to keep the whole family entertained.

Cost: £10 per child.

Times: 12pm -4pm.
