Easter is a great time to get out and about this Spring, especially as the two bank holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday mean most of us get a great 4 day long weekend. If you want to make the most of it, Northumberland is a great place to head.
You can book in for 1,2,3 - or more nights if you have the time- at one of our Grace Darling luxurious cottages, and you can take advantage of all the local events that are being held. Come rain or shine, there is always something to do in the area. Here are just some ideas:
Kielder Observatory - Family Events – at Kielder Water and Forest Park, Kielder, Northumberland
Kielder runs a variety of family events throughout the year, so if you are in the area over Easter, why not check out whether any of the dates match up with your plans? They host a lot of early evening events, which are aimed to be interesting for everyone, including families with younger children. There is also a shorter Family Astronomy every Saturday afternoon, perfect for young explorers who have an interest in space and planets. If your budding young children are interested in telescopes, some workshops are also set up for this. Simply look on their website to find out more. Remember to book up in advance, as these events are very popular!
Coal Forest - Woodhorn Museum, QEII Country Park, Ashington
Coal Forest in Woodhorn Museum is hosting a six-month events programme that changes with the seasons - Let Go (autumn), Glow (winter) and Grow (Spring). You will get the chance to see work by artists including Crowe & Rawlinson, Kelly Richardson and Thrussells and Bethan Maddocks. This Easter, you will see the new open art exhibition, Into the Woods, alongside nature and wildlife-inspired walks and talks.
