Family Days Out in the Summer Holidays in Northumberland – Part 1

If you want some ideas for things to do with the family this summer in Northumberland, then we have rounded up a few ideas for you. Summer is the perfect time of year to visit the county, as you can get out in the fresh air and do some outside activities. Of course, there are many beaches and wildlife parks you can head to in the first instance. But if you need a bit more inspiration, then are here our top few ideas to get you started:
Chillingham Wild Cattle Park - Alnwick, Northumberland
Here is the place to come if you want to spot rare bovines: the purebred Chillingham Wild Cattle herd, which is the only one in the world! You can also see free roaming Roe and Fallow Deer as well as Red Squirrels, Foxes and Badgers. There’s also over 50 species of birds! From the park you will also see Chillingham Castle, which is another great place to head with the family. This is ideal for the animal loving child in your family, as well as keeping adults entertained too.

Chain Bridge Honey Farm - Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland
At Chain Bridge Honey Farm you can find out all about bees and honey. The kids can see the displays and the whole place has a great educational atmosphere. The most popular display is the observation hive where a living colony of bees can be viewed behind glass. Why don’t you try and spot the queen bee!

Castle Mania Indoor Adventure Play - Amble, Northumberland
If you do find that the weather is changeable, then Castle Mania Indoor Adventure Play Centre is a great place to head. It is located in the seaside town of Amble on the Coquet Enterprise Park. There are many interactive features here and if it does brighten up, the outdoor go karts are a must.
