Nestled on the south bank of the River Coquet, with 23 acres of parkland and 700 metres of private fishing, the tranquil setting of this cottage is idyllic. Situated on the outskirts of the village of Thropton and on the fringes of the National Park the views across the valley to the Simonside Hills and the Cheviots Hills are breathtaking. The property has a small garden which is fully enclosed and an upper paddock for the use of guests. Guests can also use the parkland which includes a small football pitch.
Wreighburn cottage is situated just outside the village of Thropton on the fringe of the National Park. It is two miles from Rothbury and the National Trust’s Cragside House and grounds; 15 miles from Alnwick and its famous castle and garden; 18 miles from the coast and 25 miles from Holy Island.
There is a small garden which is fully enclosed. A few yards beyond the garden there is a paddock for the use of guests. Children can play here and guests can barbecue and eat al fresco if they wish. Guests can also use the field leading down to the river.
Comfortable lounge with original fireplace, open fire and piano. There is satellite TV with sky sports, video, DVD, and CD player. Large dining kitchen with inglenook fireplace and farmhouse table. Facilities in the kitchen include fridge/freezer, microwave, oven with hob, dishwasher and radio.
Two well sized double king-size bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms. A twin room with access to one of the en-suites room through access door.
Central heating throughout the property along with open fires (logs provided). Sky T.V, broadband, DVD player, CD Player, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, oven with hobs. Dogs by arrangement with the owner.
1 bath towel and 1 hand towel per person, all bed linen and three tea towels. Please bring your own beach towels for swimming.
An all weather tennis court is located adjacent to the cottage and greenhouse (don't worry it is made from toughened glass). There is a pavilion next to the tennis court.
There are 7 golf courses within a half an hours drive of Rothbury including an 18 hole course within one mile. www.rothburygolfclub.com and a more challenging course at Linden Hall golf club 8, miles away.
Walking, fishing (no charge, rod licence required), cycling, tennis (please bring own racquet/balls, table tennis, football, golf, and of course sightseeing. Rough shooting and wild duck flights available with a keeper in season (price on request). Fishing lessons available @ £12.50 per hour including rod. Bee keeping lessons also available.
