Description

Old Farm sleeps up to 8 people over two floors and was originally part of a former farm steading. It is a fantastic holiday cottage close to the pretty village of Lucker. The property has a very well equipped interior with travertine bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen with marble worktops and a cosy sitting room. The sitting room benefits from a vaulted ceiling giving the area a bright and airy sense of space. The sheltered rear garden can be accessed via French doors from the sitting room to enjoy alfresco dining and open views of the fields beyond.

Inside the cottage guests will find some nice personal touches which include board games for the children, books, a good selection of DVDs and a guide to the 21 best things to do whilst in the area. There is a Sky Stream TV in the lounge and a portable Bose Bluetooth speaker.

Located in farmland between the village of Belford and the scenic coastal village of Bamburgh. Adderstone is an attractive and accessible rural area, ideally positioned in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside. It’s perfect for those wishing to explore the many historic and iconic local sites nearby. The village of Bamburgh which is dominated by the magnificent castle has a lovely selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, tea houses and cafes as well as one of the most scenic golf clubs in Britain.

The market town of Alnwick with its (Hogwarts) Castle, famous Gardens and Barter Books, a fantastic second hand bookstore, rich with history, is 20 minutes away by car. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is 25 minutes to the North, and the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park 20 minutes to the West. It’s also easy to reach all the pretty fishing towns on the coastline, Beadnell, Craster (home of the Kipper), Newton by the Sea, Alnmouth and Amble. Seahouses with its boat trips to the Farnes is 15 minutes away. Hadrian’s Wall is less than two hours to the south.

Reviews

We enjoyed our stay at Old Farm greatly. The facilities were excellent, very well presented accommodation..

Mr F,

The house was deceptively large once inside, and all fittings and furniture were very lovely.

Mrs B,

This cottage had so many extra features and a wonderful Welcome package!! A query was attended to on the same day. Masses of hot water and lovely warm bathroom floors!

Miss Ann R,

Been staying at old farm for several years, the first time in 2015. We love the new furnishings and decor since our last visit in Nov 2021, we will definitely be back!

Mr Steve C,

Location

Bamburgh & Surrounding Area

There’s something to appeal to everyone in and around the village of Bamburgh. The beach is popular with dog walkers,  horse riders, rockpoolers and kite surfers. And there are some beautiful coastal walks - try  Bamburgh to Waren Mill at low tide.

Explore the ancient castle and its grounds (outside spaces are dog friendly) or head to the RNLI Grace Darling Museum to find out how a young local woman and her father saved the lives of stranded survivors of a wrecked steamship. You can even see the boat they used for the daring rescue.

Keen golfers will love the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club as well as the many other good golf courses along this stretch of Northumbrian coast. And food-lovers are also well catered for. Try some of the locally sourced crab in a delicious sandwich, or head to R. Carter and Son butchers on Front Street for the renowned Bamburgh Banger sausages.

There are cafes, pubs and restaurants aplenty, including The Copper Kettle Tea Rooms, The Potted Lobster, The Castle Inn and The Victoria Hotel. Nearby Lucker also has a superb restaurant and cafe, The Apple Inn and The School House.
